Leslie Wilder, LCMHCS, LCAS

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in the state of North Carolina. I have 12 years of experience working in the behavioral health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including residential, day programs, outpatient, rehabilitation, academia, and addictions. Although that may seem like a lot, it simply means I have experience working with a broad range of clients and clinical issues. The majority of my experience encompasses substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and trauma. I also have experience working with youth ages 6 to 14, adults, and gender-specific issues.

I use a cognitive behavioral therapy approach to treatment that examines ways of thinking, learned patterns of behavior, and using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations. Working in partnership, I tailor my treatment approach to meet your needs while being sensitive to how your life experiences have shaped who you are.  I use evidence-based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.

In addition, it is my desire to make therapy a place where you feel safe and comfortable sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment or shame. My style as warm, supportive, challenging and tough when needed, but always with a bit of humor and laughter mixed in to soften the landing. Collaboration is important as we work together.  My goal is to walk along beside you as you navigate the challenges you face, never replacing your thoughts and wisdom with my own, but helping you tap into the power within you to grow, heal, thrive, and most of all, live!
